Back to the Future

March 3rd, 2011 by Chad Witzel

I recently came across Irina Werning’s website. She’s a photographer from South America and her work is fantastic. There was one project in particular that really got my attention, which she calls “Back to the Future”. Basically, she took a bunch of old photographs from the 70′s and 80′s and recreated the scenes depicted in them, from the people to the location. What’s really amazing is the attention paid to the details. The clothes, the props, styling…it’s pretty awesome. In her project description, she admits to “being a bit obsessive”. See the project here.

Through beautiful and some quite shocking photography starring Latin celebrities, Paula Alvarado creates a calendar to raise eco awareness. From desertification, climate change, overfishing and over-consumption – it got my attention!
