ESPN College Football’s New Look

Look, I grew up in a town which housed a Big Ten school. You could stand on my high school’s grounds and literally hit the stadium with a rock if you had a good arm. I like football. But geez, football graphics do insist on being ridiculous.

Like, I get it. I geeeetttt itttt. I have the football childhood cred to get it. Plus I really love sweet animations, but honestly you guys? I can’t get into this at all. I know it’s supposed to be CRAZZZYYEEEE, and maybe it is just the way this reel was cut together, but I find it just kind of bleh and cluttered. It’s quite well-done, don’t get me wrong, I just…….can’t. People with TVs, is it better in the midst of an actual game? Would you pause in drunkenly throwing your OSU beer coozie at the screen to watch?

Olympic Pictograms

London 2012 track cycling pictogram

Along with the London 2012 logo, the pictograms for 2012 are causing quite a stir. Most Olympic pictogram sets may never match Otl Archer’s Munich Games set, or even Mexico City, but I think when brought to life, this set is as good as LA 1984. (more…)
